“Parents have the right to insist their parishes and schools are in compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. All parishes and schools should be able to show parents that the clergy, employees, and volunteers who work with children are familiar with the warning signs of offenders, what to do if they have a concern about someone, and how to report suspected abuse. Employees and volunteers who work with children also need to have their backgrounds evaluated so parents can have a reasonable assurance that known offenders are not around their children.”

Archdiocese of Denver Mission Statement
“The Archdiocese of Denver is committed to promoting a safe environment for the children and young people in our care. The primary responsibilities of the directors are to ensure compliance with the American Bishops' Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, to serve as the victim assistance coordinator for the archdiocese, and to act as the archbishop's liaison to the Office of Child and Youth Protection of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.”
Notre Dame Parish School, promoting a safe environment for students and complying with the Charter for Protection of Children and Young People and the Mission of the Archdioceses of Denver, requires that all Notre Dame School faculty, staff, and volunteers who have contact with students, take a Safe Environment Training Class offered through the Archdiocese.
All individuals successfully completing the training class and receiving a Certificate of Training, are then required to complete the Volunteer Application; read the Archdiocese of Denver Code of Conduct and then read and sign the Volunteer Application Form, the Volunteer Informaiton Sheet, the Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosure, Personal Inforamtion Sheet and the Volunteer Worker Hold Harmless. All completed paperwork and Certificate must then be presented to the Notre Dame School Office, at which time a background check will be conducted and a confidential file created for that individual.
